Web Design Course No. D311.4

Page Chosen: http://www.survivingdiabetes.com/foodlabels.htm

In a new unit of time take a look at the page and determine the purpose and the audience.

Would make the image smaller leaving it as contrast.  Title of Page, navigation buttons, and font for the body of the page would be the same and use a left margin.

The navigation buttons would be aligned left and would be text links instead of .jpeg.

The title on the page would also be left margin and would be closer to the image so the visitor could read the title of the page without scrolling down.  The body of the page does not contain enough space in between each item therefore I would add the space so it is easier to read and identify the items on the age.

I would make a better use of the real estate by doing the changes mentioned above.

Because I like the contrast of the page, I would leave the same colors, image and background.  I would change the font to Tahoma or Verdana and include Times Roman as one of the san serif fonts family to make it easier for the visitor in case that he/she does not have the particular font used on the page.

Change the focal point of the page from the image to the title of the page.  I would also limit as much as possible the scrolling down the visitor has to go through in order to read the page content.

Ensure that the page works on all different types of resolutions.

Include the date when the change was made and information on what was changed.

Include the name of the site on all pages so the visitor knows he/she is still on the same site.

Provide a  printable version that is user friendly, easy and fast.

Regardless of which page you are on, have it set uniformly, meaning at the same place, width and height so it will not distract the visitor by changing the focal point.

Make thumbnails and load 1x1 of the image so it will load while the visitor is  browsing through the index page.

Reduce the time load for the benefit of older computers.  Because of the connection I have, the page loads in 3 seconds, but when checking the page through one of my friends that has an older computer the download time was 30 seconds.  Taking that long makes the visitor lose interest.

Include FAQ about the most common questions regarding diabetes.  Test the page further and get feedback from testers.

For those who do not have their images turned on, all the images would contain the description of the image.

I think I am going to send this page to the owner of the site.
